Seven Individuals Named in Two Methamphetamine Indictments

MARTINSBURG, WV—Seven individuals were named in two separate indictments returned by a federal grand jury sitting in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on May 3, 2011.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

FERNANDO TORRES HERNANDEZ, age 35; FABIAN OLIVAS-GONZALEZ, age 28; ALEJANDRO VELASCO-CANCHOLA, also known as ALEJANDRO VELASCO-CONCHALA, age 40; JUAN ANTONIO GASTELUM CARRAZCO, also known as BIONIC, age 43; ANSELMO CRUZ LUZ, also known as ERCELMO LNU, age 30; and CARLOS AGUSTO ZUNIGA-BONILLA, age 32; were named in a one-cont Indictment. The Indictment alleges that HERNANDEZ, OLIVAS-GONZALEZ, VELASCO-CANCHOLA, CARRAZCO, LUZ, and ZUNIGA-BONILLA, aided and abetted by each other, possessed methamphetamine with the intent to distribute in Moorefield, Hardy County, West Virginia.

If convicted, the defendants face a maximum penalty of 10 years to life imprisonment and a fine of $4,000,000.

LESLIE D. MUSGROVE, age 33, was named in a one-count indictment. The indictment alleges that MUSGROVE aided and abetted in the distribution of five grams or more of methamphetamine on February 25, 2011, in Moorefield. If convicted, MUSGROVE faces a maximum penalty of 40 years’ imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.

The cases will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The cases were investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and Mineral County Sheriff’s Department.

It should be noted that the charges contained in the indictments are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt, and that each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
