Johnstown Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Drug Offenses

JOHNSTOWN, PA—A resident of Johnstown, Pennsylania has been sentenced in federal court to 10 years in prison and five years’ supervised release on his conviction of violating various federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Rashaun R. Puryear, 31.
According to information presented to the court, from June 1, to June 23, 2009, Puryear conspired to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base, commonly known as “crack.” On June 16, 2009, he distributed less than five grams of cocaine base, and on June 23, 2009, he distributed five grams or more of cocaine base.
Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation/Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and the Cambria County Drug Task Force for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Puryear.
