New Martinsville Resident Enters Guilty Plea to Bank Robbery Charge

WHEELING, WV—A 26-year-old New Martinsville, West Virginia resident entered a plea of guilty today (March 7, 2011) in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that FRANKLIN K. DOTSON entered a plea of guilty to a one-count information charging him with the bank robbery of the WesBanco Bank on February 7, 2011, in Pine Grove, West Virginia. The funds of WesBanco Bank are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
“The cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in this matter was outstanding, and as a result the case was resolved quickly,” said United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II. “The defendant entered a guilty plea exactly one month after he robbed the bank in Pine Grove, and justice would not have been so swift without the great work of our agents.”
DOTSON, who is on home detention with electronic monitoring pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. The case was investigated by the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office; West Virginia State Police; Monroe County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
