Two Enter Guilty Pleas to Violations at USP Hazelton and FCI Morgantown

CLARKSBURG, WV—Two individuals entered guilty pleas on February 2 and 3, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg, West Virginia, before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

JOHNNY BEASON, age 33, of Washington, D.C., entered a plea of guilty to a one-count information charging him with possessing a prohibited object, a cellular phone, while an inmate at FCI Morgantown on May 20, 2010. BEASON, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment and a fine of $5,000.00. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services Unit at FCI Morgantown.

SHAMEKE WALKER, age 37, an inmate at USP Hazelton, entered guilty pleas to two separate indictments charging him with aiding and abetting the assault of another inmate with a deadly weapon on April 26, 2009; and possessing a prohibited object, a homemade knife or shank, on January 26, 2010. WALKER faces a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on the assault charge; and a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on the possession charge. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services Unit at USP Hazelton.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower.
