Pittsburgh Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Drug Distribution Scheme

JOHNSTOWN, PA—A resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to 180 months in prison and five years’ supervised release on his conviction of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Bert William Johnson, III, 29.
According to information presented to the court, from Aug. 19, 2009, to Nov. 4, 2009, Johnson, along with other co-defendants, conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base, commonly known as “crack.” In addition, on various dates from Aug. 19, 2009, through Oct. 8, 2009, Johnson distributed less than five grams of cocaine base on each of those various dates, and on Nov. 4, 2009, he possessed with intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cambria County Drug Task Force, and the Indiana Borough Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Johnson.
