North Versailles Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Law Violation

PITTSBURGH—A resident of North Versailles, Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of violating federal drug laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Arnold Jeffrey Sayles, a/k/a Jeff Sayles, 44, pleaded guilty on May 17, 2011, to one count before United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that Sayles and others conspired to possess with intent to distribute and distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.
Judge Conti scheduled sentencing for Sept. 6, 2011. The law provides for a total sentence of not less than 10 years and up to life in prison, a fine of $4,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Pending sentencing, the court continued to detain Sayles.
Assistant United States Attorney Amy L. Johnston is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, the McKeesport Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Arnold Jeffrey Sayles.
