Monessen Man Sentenced to 15 Months in Prison for Bankruptcy Fraud

PITTSBURGH—A resident of Monessen, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to 15 months in prison and 30 months of supervised release on his conviction of making a false declaration in a bankruptcy proceeding, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence on Vincent Scirotto, 49.
According to information presented to the court, Scirotto forged the signature of another individual on a bankruptcy petition and falsely represented on that petition, which was signed under penalty of perjury, that the individual was seeking relief under the bankruptcy code.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the United States Trustee, for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Scirotto.
