West Mifflin Man Charged with Possession, Distribution of Child Pornography

PITTSBURGH—A resident of West Mifflin, Penn., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of distribution and possession of child pornography, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The two-count indictment, returned on Aug. 31, 2010, and unsealed yesterday, named Mark D. Buckner, 44, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment, on March 5, 2010, Buckner distributed child pornography. Also, on May 4, 2010, Buckner possessed child pornography.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, assisted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the West Mifflin Police Department, conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment or information is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
