Dormont Man Sentenced to Probation with Home Detention for Conspiring to Deal Prescription Drugs

Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, June 4, 2010, that Jeffrey Molinaro, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to four years of probation, with home detention for the first six months, on his conviction of violating the federal drug laws.

United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Molinaro, age 24.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti, from in or around June 2007, and continuing until in or around August 2008, in the Western District of Pennsylvania and elsewhere, Molinaro conspired with others to acquire and obtain possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception and subterfuge (i.e., by means of fraudulent prescriptions), and to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute quantities of Oxycontin and Percocet, both Schedule II controlled substances, quantities of Vicodin, a Schedule III controlled substance, and quantities of Xanax, a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Mr. Cessar commended The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Jeffrey Molinaro. Other agencies participating in the investigation include the Pennsylvania State Police, the District Attorney’s Office - Violent Crimes/Firearms Task Force, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department, the Allegheny County Police Department, the Allegheny County Adult Probation, the Internal Revenue Servic - Criminal Investigation, the United States Marshals Service, the West Mifflin Police Department, the Coraopolis Police Department, the Jefferson Hills Police Department, the Mount Lebanon Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Parole.
