Corry Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Production of Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney’s Office April 13, 2010
  • Western District of Pennsylvania

Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, April 13, 2010, that Mark Allen Brecker, a former resident of Corry, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Erie to 360 months in jail on his conviction of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.

United States District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin imposed the sentence on Brecker, age 52.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold, Brecker videotaped himself, on numerous occasions, engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a minor female who was less than 2 years of age.

Launched in February 2006, Project Safe Childhood is a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. Prior to imposing sentence, Judge McLaughlin stated that he “has rarely seen a case where the conduct of the defendant was more depraved and shocking.” Judge McLaughlin also indicated that “this is a quintessential case for the protection of the public to be of paramount importance.” Further, the court stated that if Brecker “is not incarcerated for the rest of his natural life, no child will be safe from this defendant.” Judge McLaughlin also stated that “the public must believe that if they commit this type of crime, they will be removed from society for a very long time.”

Mr. Cessar commended the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Brecker.
