U.S. Attorney’s Office April 13, 2010
  • Western District of Pennsylvania

Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, April 13, 2010, that on April 12, 2010, Hardy Carroll Lloyd, a resident of Crafton, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court in Pittsburgh to a charge of violating federal firearms laws.

Lloyd, 32, pleaded guilty to one count before Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond.

In connection with the guilty plea, Assistant United States Attorney Margaret E. Picking advised the court that on May 27, 2009, Lloyd, a convicted felon, possessed 10 firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, which were found in his Crafton apartment during a search by his parole officer.

Judge Diamond scheduled sentencing for August 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. The law provides for a total maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Pending sentencing, the court ordered the continued detention of the defendant.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Hardy Carroll Lloyd.
