DETROIT DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO PRISON

CHARLESTON, WV—Gino Andrea Washington, also known as Kevin Franklin Colbert, 37, of Detroit, Michigan, was sentenced today by Chief United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin to 37 months’ imprisonment for distribution of cocaine base. Washington previously pled guilty in August 2009, admitting to the crime. The conviction stems from an investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT). On May 6, 2009, Washington was arrested after he distributed $100 of crack cocaine to a confidential informant working at the direction of the Task Force. At the time of arrest, Washington produced a Michigan driver’s license bearing his photograph but the “Colbert” alias. Detectives became suspicious and, through additional investigation, determined his true identity. The investigation revealed that Washington traveled to West Virginia from Canada with a female companion to sell drugs, including crack and oxycodone. His companion, Tiffany Lynn Wilson, is a citizen of Canada. Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow.
