Inmate Sentenced on Possession Charge

CLARKSBURG, WV—A federal inmate entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced on October 7, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that GREGORY QUARLES, age 29, a federal inmate at USP Hazelton, entered a plea of guilty to one count of possession of a prohibited object (marijuana) on March 30, 2008. Judge Keeley sentenced QUARLES to six months’ imprisonment to run consecutive to the sentence he is currently serving. The visitors who supplied the marijuana to inmate QUARLES have been charged by state authorities in Preston County.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services at FCI Hazelton. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin.
