Ford City Man Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison for Receiving, Possessing Child Pornography

United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today, June 4, 2009, that on June 2, 2009, John Joseph Burke a resident of Ford City, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 168 months’ imprisonment followed by supervised release for life on his conviction of violating federal child pornography laws.

United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence on Burke, age 65.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller, from May 2006, to September 7, 2007, Burke received visual depictions of minors engaging in sexual explicit conduct.  In addition, Burke possessed visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct on September 7, 2007, and again on September 13, 2007.
Ms. Buchanan commended the Pennsylvania State Police - Kittanning and Butler Barracks, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Armstrong County District Attorney’s for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Burke.
