FBI Announces Increased Reward for Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Jason Derek Brown

Federal Bureau of Investigation Phoenix Division Acting Special Agent in Charge Steven R. Hooper announces an increased reward for FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Jason Derek Brown. The reward of up to $200,000 is for information leading directly to the arrest of Jason Derek Brown, who is wanted for murder and armed robbery in Phoenix, Arizona.

On November 29, 2004, Jason Derek Brown allegedly encountered armored car guard Robert Keith Palomares, who was exiting a Phoenix movie theater with more than $56,000 in cash. Brown fired six rounds from a .45 caliber handgun at close range, striking Palomares at least five times in the head. Brown grabbed the guard’s money bag and fled on a mountain bike through an adjacent alley. Palomares died at the scene.

On December 4, 2004, an Arizona state arrest warrant was issued by the Superior Court of the state of Arizona, County of Maricopa, charging Jason Derek Brown with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Two days later, Brown was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution in a federal arrest warrant, issued by the United States District Court, District of Arizona. Brown was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List on December 8, 2007.

Jason Derek Brown is described as white male, 5’10” tall, 170 to 180 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes. He speaks fluent French and has a master’s degree in international business. He is an avid golfer, snowboarder, skier, and dirt biker. He enjoys being the center of attention and has been known to frequent nightclubs, where he enjoys showing off his high-priced vehicles, boats, and other possessions. Brown was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and completed his Mormon mission near Paris, France.

Acting Special Agent in Charge Hooper stated, “In fugitive cases such as this, the FBI relies heavily on the public’s assistance, and we believe the increased reward of up to $200,000 will result in increased tips, ultimately leading to the capture of this dangerous fugitive.”
