Attorney General Tom Horne Confirms the Arrest of Frank Tanori Gonzalez on Charges of Fraud and Computer Tampering

PHOENIX—Attorney General Tom Horne today confirms the arrest of Frank Tanori Gonzalez, of Tucson, Arizona, on charges of fraud and computer tampering. Gonzales is being arrested for his alleged conduct of interrupting the Comcast broadcast of the Super Bowl, February 1, 2009, to customers in the greater Tucson area for 37 seconds with x-rated pornography.

Frank Tanori Gonzalez was arrested at 5:35 p.m. today by a joint task force of the FBI and Marana Police Department.

“These charges relate to the 37 second x-rated pornography interruption of Comcast’s Tucson 2009 Super Bowl broadcast and as a result of the alleged tampering to its servers, Comcast suffered significant economic losses,” Horne said.

The charges are merely accusations and the suspect is presumed innocent of all charges until or unless he is proven guilty.

“Today’s arrest of Gonzalez is the result of a joint investigation by the FBI and the Marana Police Department. This alleged act of fraud and computer tampering resulted in viewers to include minors seeing unwarranted material. The FBI and our law enforcement partners are committed to investigating individuals who breach their administrative responsibilities by committing fraud and computer tampering,” stated FBI Special Agent in Charge Nathan T. Gray, Phoenix Division.

The charges will be reviewed by the Attorney General’s Tucson Office.
