PHOENIX, AZ—Today, Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Nathan Thomas Gray announced the arrest of Michael Robert Wiseman, age 34.

Michael R. Wiseman was arrested by officials from the National Police Corps attached to the Malaga International Airport on September 25, 2009. Wiseman was wanted on a Felony warrant issued by the Maricopa County Superior Court charging 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a minor. The Scottsdale Police Department conducted the original investigation involving Wiseman.  An Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution Federal warrant was obtained by FBI Phoenix.

After Wiseman was arrested by local authorities, he was released on bond on February 16, 2008. He was fitted with an electronic monitoring device. On or around November 1, 2008, Wiseman’s electronic monitoring device was no longer emitting or receiving a signal. Further investigation determined Wiseman traveled from Juarez, Mexico to Paris, France in November 2008.

SAC Gray stated, “The arrest of Wiseman is the result of  cooperation and coordination between local, county, federal, and international law enforcement partners. This arrest takes another child predator off the streets in order to protect our children.”

The following law enforcement and prosecutorial offices were instrumental in bringing Wiseman to justice:  INTERPOL, Legat Copenhagen, Legat Madrid, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (Extradition Attorney), Office of International Operations, Scottsdale Police Department, Spanish National Police, United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, and FBI Phoenix.
