The FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for the armed robbery of the Susquehanna Bank branch located at 1845 Walnut Street on February 3.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., the subject entered the bank holding what appeared to be a green hand grenade in his right hand. The subject presented a threatening demand note to a teller, which indicated that he was holding a grenade. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area of the bank on foot westbound on Walnut Street then southbound through Rittenhouse Square. The hand grenade was recovered by police in the 2000 block of Fitzwater Street and was determined by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Ordinance Disposal Unit (Bomb Squad) to be an inert replica grenade.

The subject is described as a black male in his late 30’s or 40’s, 6’0” tall, medium build, wearing a black knit cap, large dark-framed glasses, a dark-colored denim overcoat, light colored blue jeans, and black gloves. In the right-hand photo below, the grenade is visible in the subject’s right hand, and the demand note is visible on the teller counter.

Anyone with information about this subject is urged to call the Philadelphia Police Department or the FBI at 215-418-4000. This subject is considered armed and dangerous. There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
