Superseding Indictment Charges Three with Armed Bank Robbery Offenses

Victor Beckwith, Durrell Brown, and Lawrence Brown were charged today in a superseding indictment with conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery and armed bank robbery, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Beckwith and Lawrence Brown were also charged with carrying and using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. The superseding indictment specifically charges that Beckwith and Lawrence Brown robbed the Sovereign Bank located at 8623 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 31, 2011. The original indictment charged Beckwith, Durrell Brown, and Lawrence Brown with robbing the PNC Bank, located at 2200 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 16, 2011.

If convicted of all charges, defendants Beckwith and Lawrence Brown face a total maximum sentence of seven years to lifetime imprisonment, a seven-year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment, five years’ supervised release, a $1,000,000 fine, and a $400 special assessment. Defendant Durrell Brown faces a total maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment, three years’ supervised release, a $500,000 fine, and a $200 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Salvatore L. Astolfi.
