Philadelphia Man Indicted on York Robbery Charges

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a grand jury in Harrisburg indicted Terrance Baker, 40, of Philadelphia, yesterday, charging him with bank robbery and robbery affecting interstate commerce.

According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, the indictment alleges that on December 9, 2010, Baker robbed a bar in York, Pennsylvania, and escaped with approximately $500 in cash from the register. Two days later, Baker robbed the Integrity Bank, also in York, of approximately $1730 in cash. Baker was later arrested on a warrant issued after he was identified by witnesses and through video surveillance photos.

If convicted, Baker faces up to 20 years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the York Police Department. Prosecution has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Wesley P. Page.

An indictment or information is not evidence of guilt but simply a description of the charge made by the grand jury and/or United States Attorney against a defendant. A charged defendant is presumed innocent until a jury returns a unanimous finding that the United States has proven the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt or until the defendant has pled guilty to the charges.
