Three Philadelphia Men Indicted on Drug Distribution Charges

Andres Castro, also known as “Andres Castro Rosa,” Juan Amir Rivera, also known as “Edwin Castro Caceres,” and Elias Adames were charged today by indictment with conspiracy to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin, and possession with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin. Castro and Rivera are also charged with illegal reentry after deportation, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.
On November 17, 2010, the Philadelphia Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation executed search warrants and seized approximately seven kilograms of heroin from a vehicle and a Philadelphia stash house the defendants were using to conceal the drugs prior to distribution.

If convicted, Castro and Rivera face a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a mandatory minimum of five years up to lifetime supervised release, an $8,250,000 fine, and a $300 special assessment. Adames faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a mandatory minimum of five years up to lifetime supervised release, an $8,000,000 fine, and a $200 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys David L. Axelrod and Scott M. Cullen.
