Mertztown Man Sentenced on Child Pornography Charges

Jason John Fritch, 28, of Mertztown, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today to 120 months’ incarceration for possessing and trading images depicting the sexual abuse of children, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Fritch pleaded guilty February 15, 2011 to knowingly possessing and transporting more than 20,000 visual depictions and 1,000 videos showing minors as young as infants being sexually abused.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Paul S. Diamond ordered Fritch to pay a fine of $5,000 and ordered five years of supervised release, during which time he is to have no unsupervised access to children. Upon release from prison, Fritch will also have to register as a sex offender.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sherri A. Stephan.
