Bank Robber Convicted

John Markeith Webb, 35, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, was convicted today by a federal jury in Philadelphia on charges that he robbed the Lafayette Ambassador Bank, located at 280 Line Street in Easton, Pennsylvania, of $4,665, on June 5, 2009, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Webb was also convicted of the charge of using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in prison with a possible maximum sentence of life. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 18, 2011, before the Honorable Joel H. Slomsky.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Easton Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys John Gallagher and Ewald Zittlau.
