Man Charged with Attempted Bank Robberies in Philadelphia

Carl Anthony Goodwin was charged today by indictment with two counts of attempted bank robbery on July 30, 2010, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment specifically charges that Goodwin was charged with attempting to rob: (i) the Citizens Bank, located at 6201 North 5th Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and (ii) the Wachovia Bank, located at 601 West Erie Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

AGE OR YEAR OF BIRTH: 25

If convicted defendant Carl Anthony Goodwin faces a maximum possible sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, three years’ supervised release, and a $200 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul G. Shapiro.
