U.S. Attorney’s Office September 01, 2010
  • Eastern District of Pennsylvania (215) 861-8200

Corrine Horstead, 31, of Newark, Delaware, was sentenced today to 24 months in prison for one count of interstate transportation of stolen checks and one count of unauthorized use of an access device. Horstead pleaded guilty to the charges March 9, 2010, admitting that while working as a bookkeeper, she embezzled from her employer. The government contends Horstead stole approximately $230,000 by writing checks to herself from her employer’s bank account and using the employer’s ATM card.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Harvey Bartle, III, ordered Horstead to pay restitution in the amount of $230,000.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David L. Axelrod.
