Alleged Bank Bandit Indicted

Today, Hiram Joseph Adams was charged in a five-count indictment with four counts of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment specifically charges that from July 8, 2009, to June 4, 2010, Adams robbed the following banks:

  • On July 8, 2009, the Wachovia Bank at 1700 Market Street, Philadelphia;
  • On January 21, 2009, the Valley Green Bank at 7226 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia;
  • On May 4, 2010, the Citizens Bank at 1000 Easton Road, Cheltenham Township;
  • On May 28, 2010, the attempted robbery of the Citizens Bank at 8616 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia;
  • On June 4, 2010, robbery of Sovereign Bank at 800 E. Willow Grove, Springfield Township, Pennsylvania.

AGE OR YEAR OF BIRTH: 1965

If convicted of all charges, the defendant faces a total maximum sentence of 100 years in prison, three years’ supervised release, and a fine of up to $1.25 million.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney William H. Weiland and Assistant United States Attorney Salvatore L. Astolfi.
