Serial Bank Robber Anthony Ransom Strikes Again

The FBI, the United States Marshals Service, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Abington Township (PA) Police Department are all seeking the public’s assistance to locate Anthony Wayne Ransom. Ransom, 44 years old, approximately 6’3” tall, 250 pounds, has been charged in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania with the robbery of the Citizens Bank branch located at 2516 Welsh Road in Philadelphia on July 12, 2010. Ransom entered the branch, presented a threatening demand note to a teller, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Ransom is also a suspect in several other bank robberies in Jenkintown (Abington Township) PA, including the 7/19/2010, robbery of the PNC Bank branch located at 123 Old York Road, the 8/12/10, robbery of the FirstTrust Bank branch in the Pavilion at 261 Old York Road, and yesterday’s (8/17/10) robbery of the TD Bank branch at 710 Old York Road. There have been no injuries in any of these robberies.

Ransom is also being sought for escaping from the custody of a federal halfway house in Philadelphia on June 26, 2010. Ransom left the halfway house on that day to go to work, and never returned to the halfway house or to his place of employment in Willow Grove, PA.

Ransom may be frequenting the Jenkintown and Abington, PA areas, and has, in the past, worn a thick beard.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000, the U.S. Marshals Service at 215-597-7273, the Abington Police Department at 267-536-1100, or their local police. Ransom is considered armed and dangerous. There is a reward for information leading to Ransom’s capture.
