The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a 61-year-old Patchogue, New York resident, who is currently serving a 25-year to 50-year state sentence for molesting children in Luzerne County, was sentenced to an additional 60 months in federal prison today by Senior U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley for possessing images of child pornography in 2007 and 2008.

According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Dennis Myers will start serving his five-year federal sentence after he completes serving the 25-year to 50-year state sentence. Myers began serving his state prison sentence on March 29, 2010.

Myers pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on April 23, 2010. Myers’ federal charge stemmed from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and Hanover Township Police.

Judge Munley also sentenced Myers to a lifetime term of supervised release after he serves his prison sentence. Myers must also pay a special assessment of $100.

U.S. Attorney Smith noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
