Philadelphia Man Charged in Hobbs Act Robbery

James Smith was charged in a criminal indictment with one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of possession of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy.

If convicted of all charges, the defendant faces a total maximum sentence of lifetime imprisonment, including a 5 year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment, 5 years supervised release, a $500,000 fine, and a $200 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Salvatore L. Astolfi.
