Philadelphia Resident Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

PHILADELPHIA—Bridget Carey, 27, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty today to six counts of bank robbery, one count of conspiracy, and one count of interference with interstate commerce by robbery, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy. Between December 3, 2008, and January 21, 2009, Carey and co-defendant William Kusznir, who was charged separately, robbed a TD Bank branch located at 2520 Grant Avenue in Philadelphia, a Citizens Bank branch located at 2014 Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia, a Citizens Bank branch located at 2910 Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia, a Citizens Bank branch located at 9218 Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia, a PNC Bank branch located at 3201 Willits Road in Philadelphia, a PNC Bank located at 2401 Welsh Road in Philadelphia, and a Target store located at 11000 Roosevelt Boulevard. In each robbery, Carey waited in the getaway car while Kusznir went inside the bank branch or store, presented a demand note, and took the cash. The couple stole an approximate total of $20,252.

Carey is scheduled for sentencing on February 23, 2010. Kusznir is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty last July 2009.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise S. Wolf.
