U.S. Attorney’s Office March 31, 2009
  • Middle District of Pennsylvania (717) 221-4482

Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Palmerton man who participated in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine in Carbon County in 2006 and 2007, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 57 months in federal prison.

Carlson stated that Jason Mika, age 28, pleaded guilty on November 4, 2008, to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine.

Mika’s prosecution resulted from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Pennsylvania State Police, and local police in Carbon County. Carlson noted that eleven defendants were charged in the case and all but two have pleaded guilty to drug trafficking offenses.

Judge Munley also ordered Mika to serve three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence, and to pay a special assessment of $100.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
