Philadelphia Man Charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute "Crack" Cocaine

United States Attorney Laurie Magid and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham today announced the filing of a one-count indictment1 charging that on September 4, 2008, Lamar Wilson possessed more than 37 grams “crack” cocaine with intent to distribute, possessed firearms in furtherance of this drug trafficking crime and possessed firearms as a convicted felon. According to the indictment, Wilson possessed an assault-type semi-automatic rifle and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

If convicted the defendant faces a statutory maximum sentence of life imprisonment, including a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of fifteen years, a $4,500,000 fine, 16 years supervised release, and $300 special assessment.
This case was investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative designed to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendant is likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction.
