York Man Federally Sentenced After Robbing Three Banks

Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced today that David Wayne Miles, age 38, of York, Pennsylvania was sentenced Tuesday by United States District Court Judge John E. Jones, III, to serve a 120-month term of imprisonment for robbing three banks. Judge Jones further ordered that Miles serve three years’ of supervised release and pay $5,601.91 in restitution. Police recovered $10,000 when Miles was arrested shortly after the December 4, 2007 robbery.

According to U.S. Attorney Carlson, in November and December 2007, Miles robbed three banks while using a firearm, stealing over $15,500. Those banks include:

November 26, 2007 - Province Bank, Columbia, Pennsylvania;
November 30, 2007 - Province Bank, Columbia, Pennsylvania; and
December 4, 2007 - Wachovia Bank, York, Pennsylvania

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, York Area Northern Regional Police Department and Springettsbury Township Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daryl F. Bloom.
