George C. Venizelos—Special Agent in Charge

Mr. Venizelos entered on duty as a special agent in April 1991 and was assigned to the Boston Division working white-collar crime matters. He was promoted in August 1997 to supervisory special agent in the Criminal Investigative Division’s Russian Organized Crime Unit at FBI Headquarters.

In September 1999 he served as supervisory senior resident agent for Philadelphia Division’s Harrisburg Resident Agency. His office was responsible for FBI programs in Harrisburg along with the surrounding eight counties.

He was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of FBI New York’s Criminal Division in August 2002, where he managed the drug program. In 2003 he was designated assistant special agent in charge of the Counterterrorism Division, and managed the domestic terrorism program, terrorism threats to New York City and its surrounding territory. While in New York, he handled responsibilities for several major special events, to include the 2004 Republican National Convention.

In September 2005, Mr. Venizelos was promoted as an inspector at FBI Headquarters, where he led inspection teams to FBI field offices and overseas legal attaché offices.

Mr. Venizelos was appointed as special agent in charge of the FBI New York Field Office’s Administrative Division in November 2006. He led a team of professionals covering a region comprised of New York City, Long Island, and the counties of Westchester, Rockland, Duchess, Orange, Putnam and Sullivan. He served as acting assistant director in charge of the New York Division from March 1 - August 9, 2010. In September 2010, Mr Venizelos was named special agent in charge of the Philadelphia Division.

Prior to the start of his FBI career in 1991, he was a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration and worked as an accountant mainly at KPMG Peat Marwick. He graduated from Fordham University in 1982, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
