Cerro Gordo County Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Meth Distribution Conspiracy

A Hampton, Iowa, man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a Mason City area methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

Martin Rodriguez, age 47, of Hampton, Iowa, received his prison term after a November 10, 2010, guilty plea.

Information provided by the United States at Rodriguez sentencing and change of plea hearings showed Rodriguez took delivery of multiple ounce quantities of methamphetamine and resold it to numerous other people. Rodriguez was receiving and selling about two ounces of methamphetamine a week for six months, and during his involvement in the conspiracy personally received and sold over three pounds of methamphetamine. The conspiracy lasted from December 2009 to April 2010, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.

Rodriguez was sentenced on April 5, 2011, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Rodriguez was sentenced to 57 months’ imprisonment. Rodriguez must serve a three-year term of supervised release after prison. Rodriguez was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.

Rodriguez is being held in the United States Marshals custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Police Department, Clear Lake Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s office, Hampton Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and FBI.
