Winnebago Man Sentenced for Burglary

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg and the Federal Bureau of Investigations announce the following information for the attention of the media:

Event Triggering this Release:

Michael G. Aldrich, 27, of Winnebago, Nebraska was sentenced in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska for burglary. The Honorable Laurie Smith Camp sentenced Aldrich to 24 months in prison. After his release from prison, Aldrich will begin a three-year term of supervised release.

On December 25, 2008, Aldrich broke into a residence on the Omaha Indian Reservation. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door. The residents were absent from their home. A 2005 Jeep Liberty and a can of gas were stolen from the garage. Personal items to include a cellular telephone and camcorder were also taken from the house.

Days after the burglary the residents recognized their stolen Jeep parked in front of a residence in Sioux City, Iowa. The recovery of the Jeep led law enforcement to Aldrich.
