Niobrara Resident Sentenced for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 27, 2009
  • District of Nebraska (402) 661-3700

United States Attorney Joe Stecher and the FBI announce the following information for the attention of the media:

Event Triggering this Release: On July 24, 2009, Chief United States District Court Judge Joseph F. Bataillon sentenced Logan Saul to 46 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release following his conviction of assault with a deadly weapon. Saul was further ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $4,821.00.

On November 14, 2008, the victim and his girlfriend were laying in bed in their home on the Santee Indian Reservation when a group of males, without provocation, came into the room and attacked the victim. He was pulled out of bed and into the living room. After the victim was dragged to the living room, Saul began to beat, kick and stab the victim. The others involved in the initial attack on the victim left the house while Saul continued his attack. When Saul finished, he ran out of the house and told the others he thought he had killed the victim. The victim was taken to the hospital where it was determined he had suffered numerous serious wounds to his chest, face and back.
