Arrest Made in Norman Bank Robbery

OKLAHOMA CITY—James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Division of the FBI, announced the arrest of Leonardo Lamar Parks, age 51, of Norman, Oklahoma, on charges related to the robbery of Communication Federal Credit Union in Norman, Oklahoma.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, Parks was located and arrested in downtown Oklahoma City, near Reno and Shartel Avenue, by FBI agents and officers of the Norman Police Department. Parks was arrested without incident. Parks was transported to the Grady County Jail and will have an initial appearance in federal court today. This arrest is the result of a joint investigation by the Norman Police Department, the University of Oklahoma Police Department, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI.

Parks is charged in a criminal complaint filed February 11, 2013 in United States District Court, Western District of Oklahoma, with the robbery of the Communication Federal Credit Union located at 300 12th Ave. S.E., Norman, Oklahoma, on February 1, 2013. Parks is also a suspect in the robbery of the Bank of Oklahoma Branch, located inside the Homeland Grocery Store at 2600 W. Robinson Street, Norman, Oklahoma, on February 11, 2013.

The public is reminded an arrest is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
