Norman Man to Serve 218 Months in Prison for Receipt of Child Pornography

OKLAHOMA CITY—Donald James Hassan, of Norman, Oklahoma, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Joe Heaton to serve 218 months in federal prison for receipt of child pornography, announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.
According to court records and information from the plea hearing and sentencing, Hassan traded pictures and videos of child pornography—some of which portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct—using an online file sharing network. Hassan’s child pornography trading occurred from March 2010 through May 24, 2011.
In determining his sentence, the federal judge considered evidence that Hassan had sexually abused a preschool-age boy on several occasions during the time period within which he was trading child pornography.
Hassan pled guilty to receipt of child pornography on August 19, 2011. Upon release from federal prison, Hassan will be placed on supervised release for 20 years and will have to register as a sex offender.
This case was the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Norman Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale.
