Ada Man Sentenced for Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm

MUSKOGEE, OK—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that David Paul McKnight, age 33, of Ada, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 41 months’ imprisonment, followed by 36 months of supervised release, for being a felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1).

The charge arose from an investigation by the Ada Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The defendant was indicted in November 2011 and pled guilty in December 2011.

The indictment alleged that on or about September 14, 2011, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, having been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, did knowingly possess in and affecting commerce, several firearms which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing. The defendant will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his non-parolable sentence.
