Ada Man Sentenced for Bank Robbery

U.S. Attorney’s Office June 19, 2012
  • Eastern District of Oklahoma (918) 684-5100

MUSKOGEE, OK—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that David Jaquonn Cole, age 22, of Ada, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 100 months’ imprisonment, followed by 60 months of supervised release, for bank robbery, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a) and 2. Cole was also ordered to pay $71,351 in restitution.

The charge arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The defendant was indicted in November 2011 and pled guilty in December 2011.

The indictment states that on or about October 21, 2011, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, and others, by force, violence, and intimidation, attempted to take, and did take, from the person and presence of another, money—namely, $153,100 in U.S. Currency, belonging to, and in the care, custody, control, management, and possession of the Citizens Bank of Ada, a bank whose deposits were then insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing. The defendant remains in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his nonparolable sentence.

Assistant United States Attorney Edward Snow represented the United States.
