Quinton Man Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement and Theft from an Indian Tribal Organization

MUSKOGEE, OK—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced today that KEVIN RAY BOND, age 43, of Quinton, Oklahoma, pled guilty to embezzlement and theft from an Indian tribal organization, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1163.

Charges arose from an investigation by the Choctaw Nation Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. BOND was indicted in January, 2011.

The indictment alleged that on or about July 26, 2009, and continuing until on or about June 15, 2010, the defendant, acting as manager of the Choctaw Nation Travel Plaza, would use the travel plaza’s credit card system to upload credits to his personal prepaid credit cards without paying the travel plaza for the credits. The total amount embezzled was in excess of $1,000.00.

The Honorable Frank H. Seay, Senior Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the defendant’s guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will be scheduled following its completion. The defendant will remain on bond pending sentencing.

The statutory range of punishment is up to five years’ imprisonment and/or up to $250,000.00 in fines.
