NEWPORT NEWS, VA—Clifton Earl Davis, Jr., 25, of Newport News, Virginia, was sentenced on June 3, 2014, to 134 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for obstructing commerce by robbery and use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Smith, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) Washington Field Division; and Terry L. Sult Hampton Police Chief made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Judge Robert E. Doumar.

According to court documents, Davis robbed the Chuck E. Cheese Restaurant of approximately $1,500 on the morning of April 21, 2013. Davis, an employee of the restaurant, entered by way of a roof top access, confronted the assistant manager with a pistol, and forced the manager at gunpoint to open the restaurant safe. Based on security footage from the robbery, Hampton detectives obtained a search warrant of the defendant’s residence, where they found the Glock pistol used in the robbery, as well as the clothing and tennis shoes worn by the defendant. Impressions of the tennis shoes found at the defendant’s residence were matched by the State Lab Latent Print Section with shoe print impressions left by Davis on the roof of the restaurant through which he entered the business.

This case was investigated by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Hampton Police Division, and ATF’s Washington Field Division. Special Assistant United States Attorney Timothy R. Murphy prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
