Hampton Man Pleads Guilty to Producing Child Pornography

NEWPORT NEWS, VA—Ujima Crudup, 37, of Hampton, Va., pleaded guilty yesterday to conspiracy to produce child pornography.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Alex J. Turner, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Norfolk Division, made the announcement after the plea was accepted by United States District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen.
Crudup was indicted on July 21, 2011, by a federal grand jury for his role in a conspiracy involving sex trafficking of a minor and production of child pornography. Crudup faces a maximum penalty of 30 years when he is sentenced on Nov. 29, 2011.
In a statement of facts filed with his plea agreement, Crudup admitted that his indicted co-conspirator, Roberto Antoine Darden, would procure females using the Internet and telephone to work for him as prostitutes. One of these females was a 13-year-old girl whom Darden and Crudup supplied with alcohol and then videotaped the minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
This case was investigated by the FBI. Assistant United States Attorneys Elizabeth Yusi and Lisa McKeel are prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
