FBI Seeks Public’s Assistance in Locating Sam Chatman After Robbing Two Banks Today at Gunpoint

The FBI is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Sam Chatman, after robbing two banks today and his third and fourth overall. Chatman robbed a Chase bank located at 225 5th Avenue in Manhattan at roughly 11:45 a.m.  He then proceeded to another Chase bank located in the Bronx at 90 West 225th Street at approximately 1 p.m., where he displayed a gun and demanded cash.

Chatman was last seen wearing dark blue hat, plaid shirt, black jacket, light blue jeans, and black shoes. Chatman also left a note threatening law enforcement and that he was willing to shoot anybody. Chatman is described as a black male, 5’7’’ to 5’9’’ tall, and 200 lbs. He is 54 years old and is known to frequent casinos. Chatman is believed to have several weapons and should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Chatman has also robbed the following two banks:

  • Chase Bank located at 2438 Broadway, New York, NY, on June 18, 2011
  • Chase Bank located at 2824-2826 Broadway, New York, NY, on July 27, 2011

“Chatman’s violent behavior is continuing to escalate and we’re enlisting the help of the public in locating this dangerous individual,” said Supervisory Special Agent Barbara Daly. “Chatman is known to carry several weapons and has no fear of using them.”

A significant reward is available for a tip that breaks the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI immediately at 212-384-1000. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
