New York Area Chapters of InfraGard Hold Meetings with FBI New York

FBI New York November 24, 2010

On Monday, November 22, 2010, members of the New York InfraGard chapters attended annual meetings with FBI personnel. InfraGard's New York Metro Chapter held an information session with FBI personnel to learn about programs at the FBI's New York Office. Long Island members held a town hall session with Assistant Director in Charge (ADIC) of the New York Office Janice K. Fedarcyk at the new Homeland Security Center in Bethpage on Long Island.

During the information session, New York Metro Chapter members were briefed on FBI programs, including cyber crimes and the Evidence Response Team as well as training and community outreach opportunities. The meeting concluded with an open discussion for the members on new media.

"Today was another successful meeting for our chapter members. Not only was the session informative on FBI programs, but the networking opportunities were invaluable as well," said New York Metro Chapter President Joseph Concannon.

This was ADIC Fedarcyk's first time meeting with the Long Island Chapter of InfraGard. During the town hall with ADIC Fedarcyk, Long Island members had the opportunity to discuss topics ranging from task forces within the FBI, the recent threat on cargo planes, and ways to enhance security on Long Island as well as the nation. Long Island membership has grown significantly over the past 18 months to include more than 300 members, making it the fastest growing InfraGard Alliance in the country.

Long Island Chapter President Brendan Healy was pleased with the meeting and said, "The connections made today will help improve the partnership between the public and private sectors. Over the next 12 months, the Long Island InfraGard Chapter will be increasing our participation with both federal and local agencies to provide increased representation for private sector businesses during emergency situations."

"This is another successful example how the FBI continues to engage private sector partners in information sharing as we all strive to keep this country safe," said ADIC Fedarcyk on the InfraGard meetings.
