FBI New York Agents Carry out the Arrest of an FBI and America’s Most Wanted Fugitive

FBI New York November 10, 2010

Oscar Ancrum, a fugitive since February of 2009 wanted on bank and wire fraud charges, was arrested early this afternoon by agents from the FBI’s New York Office following a tip received from the television show America’s Most Wanted (AMW). The tip led agents to a building at Field Place in the Bronx, where a male fitting Ancrum’s description was reported to depart the apartment building between 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. each day.

FBI agents, led by Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Martin Feely, arrived on scene earlier this morning in anticipation of Ancrum’s departure. Their dedication paid off when Ancrum left the building around 11:45 a.m. and proceeded to walk down a one-way street. When the agents approached him, he ran in the other direction, but was soon surrounded. Oscar Ancrum was arrested on the scene and faces an initial court appearance this evening. This case will be prosecuted out of the Southern District of New York.

“It was a short chase and he gave up as soon as we had him surrounded. He was the last fugitive in this case, and our squad is glad we will now be able to wrap up this investigation,” said SSA Martin Feely.

“Oscar Ancrum was on the run for more than a year. He tried to hide, but could not escape his fate  Thanks to our partners at AMW and members of the public who reported important information, this fugitive has been forced out of hiding. The FBI is determined to track down all of our fugitives. We can use the public’s help, and request that anyone with information contact the FBI or local police,” said Special Agent Richard Kolko.
