Inside the FBI
Our New Weekly Podcast

12/05/08

The new podcast was launched on October 24.If you’ve got an iPod or mp3 player and want to hear all about our latest news and operations, go to iTunes and sign up for our new weekly podcast, Inside the FBI.

Or visit our new podcast webpage and listen to the current and archived episodes of this series and the three other podcasts we currently offer.

Inside the FBI—our first audio show produced exclusively for the Internet—was launched on October 24. The episodes so far have focused on such topics as eco-terrorism, the recent anthrax threat letters, hate crimes, and our new intelligence tools.

The series also includes an occasional video podcast, or vodcast, re-purposed from our ongoing video feature stories on the FBI website.

Inside the FBI is another way to tell our story and to keep people up to date on the latest scams and other issues that might impact them,” says John Miller, head of FBI public affairs. “It’s an opportunity to reach millions of people around the world—and especially younger folks—who rely on podcasts as a primary source of breaking information and who might not otherwise get our news.”

The audio podcast is produced by long-time radio veteran Neal Schiff, who has created more than 900 radio shows for the FBI’s Office of Public Affairs in the last two decades.

“The show is a natural extension of what we’ve been doing in radio for a long time,” he says of the new podcast. “And we know that people are listening, because Inside the FBI has already spent a lot of time in the top 25 of the Government and Organizations category on iTunes.”

Our other podcasts—launched in May—include:

  • FBI This Week, an ABC Radio Networks public affairs program and a two-time winner of the prestigious Gold Screen Award from the National Association of Government Communicators that provides a behind-the-scenes look at the FBI and its responsibilities and accomplishments.
  • Gotcha, which features a closed case in which the FBI, often working with local and state police and other federal agencies, solves a crime and makes arrests.
  • FBI 100: A Closer Look, an archived series of interviews with FBI Historian Dr. John Fox, who shares his perspectives and insights on our past as the Bureau celebrates its 100th anniversary.

This week’s episode of Inside the FBI—which talks about holiday cyber scams and our new top ten fugitive—is now available. Also look for it on iTunes.
