The FBI Seeks Further Language Proficiency

Washington, D.C. - The FBI today announced that it has immediate needs for Special Agent applicants who possess a fluency in Arabic, Farsi/Persian, Pashto, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. The FBI is also seeking applicants who speak Chinese (all dialects), Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Hebrew, Russian, and Spanish.

The FBI is also seeking Special Agent applicants with backgrounds in Computer Science/Information Technology, Science, Engineering, Intelligence, Accounting/Finance, Law, Law Enforcement, and the Military.

FBI Special Agents are a corps of ethnically diverse professional women and men, representing various cultures, all sharing their common desire to fight crime and make a positive difference on the nation, and to a larger part, the world. Diversity is one characteristic that helps to make FBI investigations successful. The FBI is strengthened when it reflects the population it serves.

To qualify for the Special Agent position, you must be a United States citizen, have a four-year college degree, be available for assignment anywhere in the Bureau’s jurisdiction, be between the ages of 23-36, be in excellent physical condition, and have at least three years professional work experience. There are special entry programs for persons who have a four-year computer science related or accounting degree as well as those who are attorneys, CPAs, or linguists. All candidates must pass a thorough background investigation to include a polygraph and drug urinalysis test.
