Roland J. Corvington Named Special Agent in Charge of St. Louis Division

Roland J. Corvington has been named special agent in charge (SAC) of the FBI’s St. Louis Division. Director Robert S. Mueller, III appointed him to this position to replace SAC John Gillies, who was recently named SAC of the FBI’s Miami Division. He previously served as SAC of the St. Louis Division from 2005 to 2007.

Mr. Corvington began his FBI career as a special agent in December 1987. He was assigned to the Kansas City Division, where he later served as a supervisory special agent (SSA) of a white collar crime squad and an SSA of a Safe Streets Task Force.

In September 1996, Mr. Corvington was assigned to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he served as an SSA in the Drug Section of the Criminal Investigative Division. He was promoted to the Inspection Division as an assistant inspector in August 1998. He was appointed in August 1999 to serve as chief of the Inspection Management Unit in the Inspection Division's Office of Inspections.

Mr. Corvington was named assistant special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh Division in November 2000. He served in this capacity until January 2004, when he was named section chief of the New Agents Training Programs Section at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In February 2005, Mr. Corvington was appointed SAC of the St. Louis Division. He returned to FBI Headquarters as assistant director of the FBI’s Security Division in August 2007.

Mr. Corvington graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in law enforcement administration. In 1982, he received a master's degree from the same institution. Prior to his appointment as a special agent, Mr. Corvington was employed in the private sector.
